Garelick Farms Donation May Keep Red Brick School Doors From Closing
Brick School Association secures just-in-time contribution from Garelick Farms
JUNE 12, 2007/FRANKLIN, MASS -- When news broke that this tiny historic schoolhouse might close, Garelick Farms reached out to the Brick School Association to offer assistance.
The Red Brick School in Franklin is a landmark in town Ð as is Garelick Farms which started its dairy operation in 1931 on one rural farmstead in Franklin. Today, more milk is produced at the Garelick Farms dairy plant in Franklin than any other plant in the country.
"When news broke that this historic landmark might close, I knew we had to act. As a company, we take great pride in supporting our local community Ð there was no question here, "said Tom Davis, Vice President, General Manager, Garelick Farms, Franklin. Today, Garelick Farms promised a donation of $18,000 to the volunteer Brick School Association to go toward operating costs and the teaching assistant's salary.
A check presentation is planned for tomorrow, June 13, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Red Brick School.
"We're excited that Garelick Farms is joining in the effort to continue this excellent educational program. We greatly appreciate this generous contribution, "said Herbert Hunter, the treasurer for the volunteer Red Brick School Association.
